  • For 3–4 hours before an oropharyngeal (throat) swab, avoid all food and drink, do not brush teeth, do not rinse the mouth or throat, do not chew gum, and do not smoke.
  • For 3–4 hours before a nasal swab, do not use nasal drops or sprays and do not rinse the nose.
  • Collect swab specimens in the morning, immediately after overnight sleep, when feasible.

Epstein–Barr virusi (EBV) DNKsi, real vaqtli PZR sinovi (EBV DNK PZR yoki EBV PZR deb ham ataladi) serologik markerlar hali paydo bo‘lmaganida EBV DNK borligini ko‘rsatish uchun qo‘llanadi va infeksion mononukleozning erta tashxisini qo‘llab-quvvatlaydi. Shuningdek, gerpesvirus bilan bog‘liq yuqori nafas yo‘llari kasalliklarining, jumladan tonsillofaringitning, differensial bahosiga hissa qo‘shadi. Immuniteti susaygan populyatsiyalarda—masalan, transplant qabul qilganlar va kuchli immunosupressiya olayotgan shaxslarda—ushbu tahlil EBV reaktivatsiyasini baholashni qo‘llab-quvvatlaydi. Bunday holatlarda EBV DNKsi aniqlanishi klinik korrelyatsiyada EBV bilan bog‘liq kasallik xavfi va faolligi haqida ma’lumot beradi.

Epstein–Barr virusi, Herpesviridae oilasiga mansub bo‘lib, asosan B-limfotsitlarni nishonga oladi, biroq T-limfotsitlar va epitelial hujayralarni ham jalb qilishi mumkin. Yuqish ko‘pincha nafas yo‘llari sekretlari orqali sodir bo‘ladi. Birlamchi infeksiya odatda bolalikda orttiriladi va ko‘pincha simptomsiz yoki minimal simptomlar bilan kechadi. O‘smirlar va kattalarda esa ko‘proq infeksion mononukleoz ko‘rinishida namoyon bo‘ladi; u isitma, holsizlik, limfadenopatiya va tonsillofaringit bilan tavsiflanadi, gepatosplenomegaliya mumkin. EBV infeksiyasi asoratlari qatoriga gepatit, pnevmoniya, gemolitik anemiya, trombotsitopeniya, aplastik anemiya, taloqning yorilishi, miokardit va nevrologik sindromlar (jumladan Giyen–Barre sindromi, ensefalit va meningit) kiradi. Virus xotira B-limfotsitlar va epitelial hujayralarda umrboqiy latentlikni o‘rnatadi. Immunosupressiya davrida (masalan, HIV infeksiyasi yoki transplantatsiyadan keyingi terapiya chog‘ida) reaktivatsiya limfoproliferativ kasalliklar va nazofaringeal karsinoma bilan bog‘liq bo‘lib, mononukleozga o‘xshash qaytalanuvchi kasallik ko‘rinishida namoyon bo‘lishi mumkin. Polimeraza zanjir reaksiyasi (PZR) nishon ketma-ketlikni amplifikatsiya qilish orqali EBV DNKni aniqlaydi. Namuna olish yetarli bo‘lmaganda, namunaga ishlov berish suboptimal bo‘lganda, inhibitlovchi fiksatorlar mavjud bo‘lsa yoki EBV DNK miqdori tahlilning analitik sezgirligidan past bo‘lsa, yolg‘on-manfiy natijalar yuz berishi mumkin.
