Selen, butun qon testi (Selen [Se], qon deb ham yuritiladi) selen yetishmovchiligini baholash va ta’sirlanish yoki toksiklikni kuzatish uchun qo‘llaniladi. U past selenli hududlarda yashovchilarni, malabsorbsiyali bemorlarni, uzoq muddatli parenteral ovqatlanishda bo‘lgan shaxslarni va bariatrik jarrohlikdan keyingi bemorlarni baholashni qo‘llab-quvvatlaydi. O‘lchov, shuningdek, propionik atsidemiya kabi ayrim metabolik holatlarda, iz elementlarni baholash uzluksiz kuzatuvning bir qismi bo‘lishi mumkin bo‘lgan vaziyatlarda qo‘llaniladi.
